Events for the Week: Collaborative Sensemaking with AI, The Missing Weltanschauung, Natural Intelligence in Practice, and Freedom Maximalism with Bitcoin
Hey beautiful people,
I hope you had a wonderful week. A few updates: I just had a lovely conversation with Dorothea Barth Jörgensen about her journey from outer beauty to inner beauty. Dorothea is a Swedish model and former Victoria's Secret "Angel" who was featured in Hulu's recent Victoria's Secret: Angels and Demons documentary.
After leaving the industry she went on a spiritual journey discovering inner beauty via breathwork, sound alchemy, and nonduality through the feminine pathway. You can watch my inquiry with Dorothea below.
There will be a “Secret Stoa” tomorrow where Dorothea will engage in a “sound bath” meditation followed by a Collective Presencing conversation with a few Stoans. This session may not be posted on The Stoa’s YouTube channel. We will be doing more secret events, continuing to “steal the culture” in surprising ways.
Also, our friend Daniel Schmachtenberger recently had a conversation with Gilbert Morris about the history of racial conflict relevant to the American situation.
Daniel and Gilbert will be visiting The Stoa to field some questions from us and we will have a special collective inquiry at The Stoa beforehand to source some questions for Daniel and Gilbert. These Patreon-exclusive sessions will be posted on The Stoa’s Patreon soon.
We are hoping to follow up this series with a dialogos series of black intellectuals across the left-right spectrum hosted by the one and only Greg Thomas. Daniel is also aiming to be the Philosopher-in-Residence at The Stoa for January.
Here is the line-up for events this week…
The Wisdom of Iris: Collaborative Sensemaking with AI w/ John Ash. September 19th @ 6:00 PM ET. RSVP here.
Speaker John Ash is an artist and researcher interested in how we can use AI to support our collaborative sensemaking. He has been exploring the potential of using a type of AI called an iris as an interface for collective journaling, reflection, prediction tracking, and knowledge pooling. In this session, we will explore how AI can help us make sense of the world around us. We will look at how AI can be used to support collaboration and introspection, as well as generate new ideas and resolve conflict. We will also discuss how AI can help us build stronger relationships by encouraging deep listening.
The Missing Weltanschauung: Perennial Wisdom for Systems Change w/ Wai H. Tsang. September 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th @ 12:00 PM ET. RSVP here.
Wai continues his Philosopher-in-Residence series on the missing weltanschauung. In this third presentation, Wai presents a new theory that may unravel both the mystery of life and intelligence. In much the same way that the famous Einstein equation E=MC2 describes fundamental interchangeability or sameness between energy and matter, so likewise there also exists a fundamental sameness or symmetry relationship between life and intelligence. You can watch Wai’s second presentation above.
Natural Intelligence in Practice w/ Jill Nephew. September 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th @ 6:00 PM ET. RSVP here.
Jill continues her Philosopher-in-Residence series on natural intelligence. In this third presentation, Jill discusses how natural intelligence is the only intelligence that can go beyond "winning the game", to transcending the game, deconstructing the game, redesigning the game, and creating new games in the midst of every imaginable adversity and at lightning speed. This talk will pull in real-world examples from a community of practice that relies on natural intelligence to perform this magic within seconds in order to navigate and survive in a deadly, fluid environment. You can watch Jill’s second presentation above.
Money, Bitcoin, and Freedom Maximalism w/ Robert Breedlove. September 21st @ 12:00 PM ET. RSVP here.
Freedom maximalism is a straightforward philosophy rooted in an inarguable reality: each person owns themself. Individual self-ownership is axiomatic. To assert that individual self-ownership is untrue is itself an expression of individual self-ownership—one cannot argue against it without proving it. In the same way a straight line is the shortest distance between two points in flat space, or 2+2=4, each person is self-owned.
This session will be hosted by Katy Kelly from The Serious Playground.
