Rebecca Fox from Chapel Perilous is returning to The Stoa to host a new series called Ritual Studio.
I am super excited about this series. Ever since reading Byung-Chul Han’s The Disappearance of Rituals: A Topology of the Present I became convinced that we need to step up our ritual game to find our way home. From the book:
We can define rituals as symbolic techniques of making oneself at home in the world. They transform being-in-the world into being-at-home. They turn the world into a reliable place. They are to time what a home is to space: they render time habitable. They even make it accessible, like a house.
The Ritual Studio will house the exploration of the theory and practice of ritual through our personal experiential lenses, and maybe some useful academic models. Every Studio will include a live ritual practice as well as the opportunity to have a bespoke ritual designed for you by Rebecca.
Bring your thoughts and feelings about ritual and the details of any situation you think might be resolved through ritualistic means. Be prepared to turn on your camera, chat, and play in these unrecorded sessions.
